Oil Conspirisy "Working" For The Democrat Party

According to an article in Politico.com and quotes from some prominent Dem leaders and their aids, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and others from their party have for more than a year been plotting to use the high price of gas to advance their political agenda at the consumers expense:

"California Democrat Nancy Pelosi may be trying to save the planet — but the rank and file in her party increasingly are just trying to save their political hides when it comes to gas prices as Republicans apply more and more rhetorical muscle. But what looks like intraparty tension on the surface is part of an intentional strategy in which Pelosi takes the heat on energy policy, while behind the scenes she’s encouraging vulnerable Democrats to express their independence if it helps them politically, according to Democratic aides on and off Capitol Hill." LINK

"Instead, the chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources believes Democrats are all about 2009. "We’ve laid the groundwork this year," Rahall said. Democratic House aides say the energy agenda has been carefully gamed out in strategy sessions, and Pelosi always intended to take heat on gas prices while tacitly encouraging more vulnerable Democrats to publicly disagree with her and show their independence."

"Reid, like Pelosi, is expecting to have a much stronger governing majority in the Senate next year, so he has little incentive to give in to Republicans on energy policy as long as he thinks it won’t hurt Democrats. Even as they face heat from constituents during the August break, Democrats say they aren’t going to cave in to popular pressure. "We feel pretty comfortable with where we are," said Rep. Michael E. Capuano (D-Mass.), who is close to the Democratic leadership. "This is a not a new issue. This just didn’t happen today. We’ve been working on this for months." (emphasis mine)

While the average consumer is getting "hosed" by high gas prices, the Democrat Party continues to play political games that they have been planning for months in advance. Their agenda is not in the interest of the consumer/voter, but rather a political strategy to advance their party. (see Iraq war)

So, while the price of gas has risen over the past 18+ months, the Democrats have allowed no legislation to relieve the rising prices so they can control an agenda laid out for 2009. They are telling the electorate that you will "pay me now and then pay me later". This is the arrogance of a party that is out of touch with the consumers of this nation who are paying the price and being told to eat their crude-cake and shut up.

Temporary Mission Statement

Due to time restraints, (I have a real job that requires income), I will leave this post at the top of this site until I get around to revising it. Thanks to Iowa Liberal for getting my point ahead of this site:

First and foremost, the site was put up in haste to combat the single most petulant reaction our Democratic "leaders" are putting out in their "prepared" statements-------all the reasons why we can't do something today that our grandfathers accomplished with half the tools and know-how. In the days and months ahead I will list the pros and cons of both sides of this argument in detail.

Second, my first advocacy will be the drilling/mining of the oil shale reserves in Colorado and Utah in addition to offshore reserves that can produce a substantial outflow that factors in production levels and yes profitability. I will provide links to show the vast amounts of oil shale reserves in this region that potentially has more resources than the entire Middle East. I for one would love to tell the Saudis, Iranian Mullahs, and the Hugo Chavez's of the world to take their oil and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine.

Third, the author of this post has conveniently left out the most important declaration made at the site:

"Public Energy Number One will link any and all websites that promote the development of all sources of energy, including the exploration of oil and gas."

My purpose for the site is to promote any and all sources that seek to advance the cause of this country becoming energy independent from the rest of the world. No where in this new site will I suggest that drilling alone will suffice to reach this goal. I believe that it will take all of the resources and ingenious thinking this nation has to reach our goals. This should be a combination of billions invested in alternative energy sources along with oil and gas exploration that combined could allow us to accelerate the prime goal of energy independence, and eventually phase out the fossil fuels as the primary source.

We did not get to this point overnight and we cannot (ouch, I hate that word) resolve this overnight. The classic rhetoric and battle lines that are getting drawn up between the left and the right are disturbing to say the least. Under the current circumstances in this global economy that is competing for energy sources, (which we are currently losing), will certainly get worse before it gets better. I will admit that my declaration that we can drill our way out of this situation was the direct response to my dear friends on the left and their democratic leaders that are proclaiming that we can't. Neither side is realistically correct or completely defensible to provide the answers to a complex problem that will certainly haunt us in the years ahead.

I welcome all debate and the sharing of ideas that can provide realistic solutions that confront all of us. This is not a liberal or a "ranting" conservative problem. It's a problem for all of us that I still believe we can collectively resolve as still the greatest nation on the face of the earth------drawing philosophical lines in the sand and playing spitting games of rhetorical "I’m right and you're not" will only delay, or worse destroy this economy that is on serious shaky ground. Supply and demand of energy sources must be a collective resolution with out political agendas standing in the way of progress.

Note: For the time being, please leave your comments at this post at RovinsWorld until I change the comment vehicle here.

Public Energy Number One

This blogsite has been specifically created to expose people or entities that are purposely prohibiting the United States of America from becoming energy independent.

Public Energy Number One will link any and all websites that promote the development of all sources of energy, including the exploration of oil and gas. Likewise, those party's that have an agenda that prohibits, obstructs, inhibits, or restrains this nations ability to become energy independent will be exposed, uncovered, and listed on this site as "Public Energies"

In the spirit of this site, I have chosen for the first, (and certainly not the last), Public Energy Number One, (PENO), none other than our current Speaker of the House of Representatives----Nancy Pelosi. Mz. Pelosi is currently obstructing any legislation to come to the floor of the House that contains oil and gas exploration. Here is Pelosi's "non-partisan" response to the Presidents call for lifting the moratorium on domestic drilling:

"Americans are suffering under the Bush-Cheney-McCain policies that were written by Big Oil: $4 a gallon gasoline; $134 per barrel oil; increased reliance on foreign sources of energy and on hydrocarbons that contribute to climate change."

"Americans use one quarter of the world’s oil consumption every day and we possess less than 2 percent of the world’s supply. We cannot drill our way to energy independence." LINK

Can Nancy explain this gas chart? Be very prepared to hear this phrase and the word----CANNOT-----in the months to come as the Democratic Party, the environmental community, and the anti-business parasites that have had a stranglehold on America's energy independence for over thirty years.

Personnal note to Nancy Pelosi---------YES WE CAN!

Update: Troy Stouffer publishes this post that frames the position of the Democratic Party:

This week, President Bush called on Congress to open up 2000 acres in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge, better known as ANWR, the outer continental shelf, and allow the exploration and retrieval of oil shale. The estimates of oil reserves in ANWR and the outer continental shelf are about 28 billion barrels of oil. That is more than double the current 21 billion barrels that we have currently. Oil shale is a type of sedimentary rock that through refining processes can produce oil. There are over 800 billion barrels of oil shale in the United States. By comparison, that is more than 4 times all of the oil in Saudi Arabia. The process of extracting the oil from the oil shale is expensive and until the price of oil rose above roughly $80 a barrel it was not economically feasible for the oil companies to go after it. Now is the time for that oil to be retrieved. If the Democrats on Capitol Hill truly are concerned about the high cost of a gallon of gas, they will seriously consider taking action on the President's proposals. Sadly, the Democratic Party, the "party of change", are stuck living with a 1970's mindset on energy.

The Democrats response was the same response that we have heard for the past several years. "It will take 10 years for us to see any oil from ANWR or the outer continental shelf." That response is pure political posturing, especially when you realize that 13 years ago President Clinton vetoed legislation that would have allowed drilling in ANWR. It has been a few years since I sat in any type of Math class, but I do believe 13 years is more than 10 years. Besides, aren't the same people making the argument that we need to do something now on "global warming"? Shouldn't we then do something now for our future energy needs? They also claim that the "small" amounts of oil that drilling in ANWR and off the coast would produce would have little effect on the price of oil. I find it amazing that these same politicians were calling on the President to convince Saudi Arabia to produce more oil. They then cheered when the Saudis announced to produce 500,000 more barrels a day, when just the first 2 proposals would produce around 1 million barrels a day. Read complete story

My good friend Dana at Common Sense Political Thought adds:

"Let’s face facts, people: we have to have oil. We can pay Americans for it, or we can pay foreigners for it. Now, would you rather have your hard-earned dollars circulating through the American economy, or enriching foreign companies and countries? Even if you really hate oil industry executives, and don’t want them to get more money, if they have more money, at least they’ll spend and invest most of it here! I don’t know why anyone would rather line the pockets of Hugo Chavez or the Sultan of Brunei, who when they spend the money, won’t be spending it here." Link
